Overall, the average price of farmland was $6,346/acre and the price per productivity index point was $61.89 in 2024 based on the sales data. It is important to note that in 2024 there have been farmland sales as high as $8,376 per acre.

According to Land.com, nearly 1,000 acres of farms and rural land were listed for sale in Wayne County, Illinois. Among all the towns in the county, Fairfield had the most land on the market. Wayne County ranks 51st out of Illinois’ 102 counties for the total acreage currently advertised for sale. Covering about 715 square miles, it’s the 25th largest county in the state and sits in the Southern Illinois region.
